The graduation was held Friday, March 5, at Merritt Square Mall. Watch below to check it out!

2010 Belt graduation

Check out the new boot camp video!

Here is a creed that I wrote a while back and I still try to follow it today.

HONESTY

Be honest to yourself and others.  Always tell the truth.

COURTESY

Be courteous to all you meet.  Treat everyone and everything with compassion.

RESPECT

Respect your family, friends, teachers and anyone you meet. Respect your home and your dojo as if it were your home.

DISCIPLINE

Have the discipline to do your best in everything you do.  Self discipline is a sign of true Black Belt attitude.

Black belt is is not a piece of cloth tied around your waist.  It is a feeling inside you that strives you to  achieve more and do your best in everything you do!

Master George

PS – remember to be happy at what you are doing right now! Success is a pleasure.  Wherever you are, be  there – be there at that moment and live for the moment and even in good or bad situation, try to find a way to get something out of the experience.

GM Bram Frank visited Denson’s Martial Arts in Merritt Island. FL on Thursday, Jan. 21.  He taught a class in stick, knife and empty hand.  everyone had a great time!  Enjoy the video.

In case you missed the graduation on Friday night, here are the highlights!

Here is an upbeat video of our Self Defense B B Program.  These guys are having a blast at this program.  Share the video with your friends!

Once a week I do a private class with Al.  He is planning to visit India and wanted some special training.  We chose the cane because it was powerful and can be carried in public.  Check out the video.

Trevor and Ryan have some fun going at it and switching blows.  Both are Black belts and used control , but also had some fun just trading blows.  Trevor finish it at the end with an awesome takedown. Enjoy!  Remember – these guys are Black belts with over 5 years of training and are used to sparring.

HOW TO SET GOALS

1.  Define the goal.*

2.  Outline the steps needed to achieve it.

3.  Consider possible blocks and ways of dealing with them.

4.  Set deadlines.

*Not every wish can be a goal. For instance, you may wish you could live and stay young forever, but since there’s nothing you can do to make that happen, it could never be considered a goal.

In order for something to be a goal:

It has to be important to you, personally.

It has to be within your power to make it happen through your own actions.

It has to be something you have a reasonable chance of achieving.

It must be clearly defined and have a specific plan of action.

Have a good plan of attack.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I know about this?
  • What information do I have?
  • What information do I need? Where can I get it?
  • What skills do I need to master?
  • What other resources should I use?
  • Is this the best way to do it, or is there some other way?

Start small, but keep walking. Goals don’t necessarily have to be big ones. When you set your goal too high, you might find it too overwhelming and time consuming and just give up, or make another one, just as big. It’s akin to quitting cold turkey – there are setbacks.

Be positive when stating your goals. Instead of saying, “I am not going to miss my exercise routine today,” say “I’m really busy, so I’ll probably just make time for 20 minutes on the treadmill.” Stating your goal positively will help you view it as a good thing to do, and not as a byproduct of what you had to avoid.

Write it down. A list of long term goals, arranged as stepping-stones.  Writing a goal down on paper is more than just memorizing it. You are actually confirming your willingness to make it come true. A written list of goals is an effective reminder of what you need to do and once you’re done, a good review of your accomplishment. A simple list on a piece of notebook paper is fine, or using a computer program to really jazz it up works just as well. You may want to hang it up somewhere, as a constant reminder to work toward your goals: inside your closet, the back of your medicine cabinet door, or on your bulletin board near your desk.

It is not too late to set your goal today!  Good luck.
